In short

Guilty is a 35.3-metre motor yacht delivered by the Italian yard Rizzardi in 2008, the only one of its Technema 118 model (Boat International). Jeff Koons designed the livery of her hull and superstructure, a dazzle camouflage taken from First World War warships, in seven colours, with every field painted by hand (Domus, BOOTE). Ivana Porfiri designed her from the inside out as a white, gallery-like space for contemporary art, and the yacht takes her name from a painting by Sarah Morris that hangs in a guest cabin (Domus, BOOTE). Her owner considers the yacht itself part of his collection of some 1,500 works of contemporary art (Boat International).

Questions

Who designed the Guilty yacht?
Italian designer Ivana Porfiri of Porfiristudio designed the yacht and her interior, and the American artist Jeff Koons designed the painted exterior. Cantieri Navali Rizzardi built her in 2008 (Domus, SuperYacht Times).
Why is Guilty painted in camouflage?
The pattern is dazzle camouflage, used on warships in the First World War to make a ship's type, course and speed hard to read through a periscope. Accounts differ on who proposed it: Domus credits Ivana Porfiri, who felt the boat's unusual architecture called for camouflage, while Koons has said he suggested it to the owner. Koons reduced the scheme to seven colours, and each field was painted by hand (Domus, BOOTE).
Why is the yacht called Guilty?
She is named after Guilty, a painting by Sarah Morris that hangs in one of the guest cabins (Domus).
Why does Guilty have no proper bow?
The bow was cut short so that the yacht would fit the owner's berth, about two metres shorter than the standard hull. Instead of hiding the cut, the designer and the owner kept it as part of the look (Domus, BOOTE).
Who owns Guilty?
Boat International reported in August 2023 that she is owned by the art collector Dakis Joannou, who considers her part of his collection of some 1,500 works of contemporary art; Domus wrote in 2008 that she had been designed for him (Boat International, Domus).
Where is Guilty now?
Yachting placed her in the port of Piraeus in 2013, and in October 2026 Boat International's directory listed her at Athens Marina (Yachting, Boat International). Her live position can be followed on AIS trackers under MMSI 256001777 (VesselFinder).
